 The Slide Show tab in MS PowerPoint provides tools for presenting your slides, setting up your presentation environment, and configuring how the slides are displayed. Here’s a detailed look at each feature under the Slide Show tab:

1. Start Slide Show

  • Function: Begins the presentation of your slides from a selected starting point.
  • Details: This is the main function used to start the actual presentation mode where you can view and navigate through your slides as they will appear to your audience.

Options:

  • From Beginning: Starts the slide show from the first slide.
  • From Current Slide: Starts the slide show from the slide currently selected.

Steps:

  1. Click on Slide Show > From Beginning to start the presentation from the first slide.
  2. Alternatively, click on Slide Show > From Current Slide to begin the presentation from the slide you are currently viewing in the editor.

Shortcut: F5 starts the presentation from the beginning, and Shift + F5 starts it from the current slide.

2. Setup

  • Function: Configures various settings for how your slide show will run.
  • Details: These settings allow you to tailor the presentation experience, including slide timings, presentation mode, and more.

Options:

  • Slide Show Settings: Opens a dialog box where you can configure options like:
    • Show Without Animation: Disable animations if you prefer a more straightforward presentation.
    • Use Presenter View: Enables presenter view, which allows you to see notes and upcoming slides on your screen while the audience sees only the current slide.
    • Loop Continuously Until 'Esc': Ensures the slide show loops indefinitely until you press the Esc key.
    • Show Media Controls: Displays media controls for videos or audio during the presentation.
    • Advance Slides: Choose whether slides advance manually or after a specified time.

Steps:

  1. Click on Slide Show > Set Up Slide Show.
  2. Adjust settings as needed and click OK to apply them.

3. Monitor

  • Function: Manages the display setup for presentations, especially useful for dual-monitor setups or projector use.
  • Details: Allows you to select which monitor will display the slide show and which will display the presenter view (if using multiple monitors).

Options:

  • Primary Monitor: Choose which monitor will be used for the slide show.
  • Display Settings: Adjust settings related to the display of slides and presenter view.

Steps:

  1. Click on Slide Show > Monitor (or Set Up Slide Show and then select Multiple Monitors).
  2. Choose the monitor where you want to show the slide show.
  3. If using presenter view, select the monitor where you want to see your notes and upcoming slides.
