How to Add and View a Blog in WordPress
WordPress makes it easy to create and manage blog posts. Below are the steps to add, publish, and view your blog posts.
1. Adding a New Blog Post
Step 1: Log in to WordPress
- Go to yourdomain.com/wp-admin.
- Enter your username and password.
Step 2: Create a New Post
- In the dashboard, go to Posts > Add New.
- This opens the Block Editor (Gutenberg Editor), where you can write and format your post.
Step 3: Write Your Blog Content
- Enter the Post Title in the title field.
- Write Content in the editor (add text, images, videos, etc.).
- Use Blocks to format your content (Headings, Lists, Quotes, etc.).
Step 4: Add Categories and Tags
- Categories: Help organize blog posts (e.g., "Digital Marketing," "SEO").
- Tags: Keywords related to the post.
Step 5: Add a Featured Image
- In the right sidebar, go to Featured Image > Set Featured Image.
- Upload an image that represents your post.
Step 6: Publish the Post
- Click Preview to see how it looks.
- Click Publish to make it live.
2. Viewing Your Blog
Option 1: Visit Your Blog Page
- If your homepage shows the latest posts, go to:
yourdomain.com - If you have a separate blog page, go to:
yourdomain.com/blog
Option 2: View a Single Blog Post
- Go to Posts > All Posts in the dashboard.
- Click View under the post title.
Option 3: Add Blog to the Menu
- Go to Appearance > Menus.
- Add "Blog" as a menu item.
- Click Save Menu.
3. Setting a Static Homepage & Blog Page
If you want a separate homepage and blog page:
- Go to Settings > Reading.
- Under Your homepage displays, choose:
- A static page → Select a Homepage.
- Select another page as the Blog page.
- Click Save Changes.
